Chai is the generic name for tea in India. Chai or masala chai is an Indian specialty when tea is brewed strongly with aromatic herbs and spices. Chai is very tasty and has a lot of medicinal goodness. Masala chai or spiced tea originated from India but presently is a very popular beverage with tea lovers all around the world and there are two versions of this tea. Some prefer a black chai while some like it with milk. It tastes awesome both ways. Though there is a time tested recipe of chai, many families have their personalized version, created to suit their tastes better. Powdered chai is available in all supermarkets and some tea shops sell it with names like masala tea or spiced tea.
